Parts of Lake in the Hills still feels open and expansive, including a section of Pyott Road that's home to the Lake in the Hills Airport. Pilot Joe Sener, who uses the village-operated airport as the home base for his single-engine plane, says he loves the freedom his aircraft and the airport give him. Multiple Cessna and Piper aircraft, which are privately owned, are parked in the airport's numerous hangars. A fueling station is on site, as well as maintenance bays and a company that coordinates ground travel for folks flying into the airport. Also, Blue Skies Flying Service uses the airport as a base for its flying school. An office located in a building painted the color of a grayish blue sky has a small seating area. On a recent afternoon, a Piper Arrow sat on the airport field, as if waiting for someone to take it in the air. Later that day, a plane did take off, rumbling down the airport's single runway and coasting into a sunset sky.

We provide fueling services to major commercial airlines and the general aviation community in the Missoula area. Northstar fueling personnel are trained in accordance with CFR 14 Part 139 and certified by the National Air Transportation Association (NATA). Each line-service technician receives hands on annual training covering fueling, fire safety, aircraft towing, and de-icing procedures, hazardous materials training, and appropriate certifications.
All fueling equipment, including rolling stock and fuel farm inventories, are regularly inspected and impeccably maintained.
